I really need to be studying but I thought I should post one of my favorite editorials of all time. So natural and so beautiful. Normally I don't even like nudity in editorials, (its about having clothes on, ladies and gentlemen), but for some reason this works. And the botanical print inserts? Love all of it. The photographer Richard Jensen is also fast becoming one of my favorites as well, his work is so valid.

Sherlock

My first real foray into channeling Sherlock Holmes. I picked up these pants at the Goodwill and they're basically perfect. I'm slowly accumulating a pretty lovely collection of man inspired items, and I'm sorta thrilled.

I've been wearing this cashmere cardigan as a shirt a lot lately. It's really laid back and easy to throw on, I feel like I want it in every color.

Been obsessed with piling on the bracelets lately. I guess I learned it from my mom and aunt, who are both all about silver and really cool vintage pieces.

So.... on Thursday I became licensed in the sate of California to drive a motor operated vehicle! It's kind of strange. At first I didn't feel it, and then at 11:30 that night it hit me like a train. A drivers license its the first step towards so many things. "Show me your I.D" isn't "Show me your really geeky school i.d. card" any more, its "Oh here's my license." It's weird, it's like I never really thought it would happen but now here I am and I'm one step closer to adulthood and everything is moving forward, barreling through the present like some speed bullet. It's nice to be here, in this space and time, but I really want to keep going. I need Junior year to end for sure.

I was in a parking structure with my mom when I spotted this phenomenal vintage truck, that just happened to match the color of my Victorian blazer I was wearing. Several minutes later, we have these photos, which I think are some of my favorite on the blog.

Been dealing with some very weird stuff in my life where I've lost all interest in socializing. I don't care about who did what with whom, or where, or whatever. I've realized the absurdity, and I just want out. Been thinking about college non-stop, which is unfortunate, since I'm not even a senior yet. Anyone else understand this feeling?

As part of the new year I mentioned that I would be changing the blog around, and so from this point on I will be disabling comments.

I finally picked up the complete collection of Arthur Conan Doyle's books today at Goodwill and will be reading them avidly for the next couple weeks.

New Years Resolutions

In December of 2009 I saw the first Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Shortly after, the New Year happened and I vowed to start dressing in men's clothing as a resolution. Unfortunately, I didn't really stick to what I wanted to do, and continued to dress haphazardly, (as always). Well, two years later, I have seen Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows twice now, and have decided to stick to that resolution once more. I have fallen head over heels in love with that whole old charming-1800s-dapper-suave-pocket-watch-in-hand look all over
again.

I love the idea of a woman in man's clothing, nothing can be more chic or relaxed.
I found this editorial that basically encompasses everything I'm talking about, but just in case you need TEXT here's a list of what I'm thinking of:

Tweeds, Blazers, Button-up shirts, Linen, Over-sized trousers,
Brogues, Watches with leather bands, Black socks,
Tortoise shell glasses, Ties, Pinstripes

It's sort of a Annie Hall meets Victorian Englishman type of look, i.e. I'm completely re-thinking my wardrobe. So, here's to dressing more like a man! Oh and also, Freja Beja looking stunning in exactly what I'm talking about:

Black Florals and Mirrored Heels

Give me pastel florals on a black background and Im on board any day. This tie/wrap/dress item is amazing, it's one of my favorite clothing pieces right now, especially when paired with my trusty mirrored gold buckle heels from Zara. I love these shoes, their perfect for pairing with long dresses to lighten the mood. I heard Topshop had a version of their own a couple months back. I'm looking to stock up on another pair, does anyone know of where I could get them?

New Years Eve Inspiration

This year was filled with a lot of greatness. You can look back on the year and say it was terrible just as easily as saying it was wonderful, but I think if you really think about it, even the terrible moments can be considered key in developing and becoming the lovely human being that you are today. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? I can think of many times this past year that were really hard, (school, boys, friends, etc.) but without it, I wouldn't be where I am today. This year I've figured out what I want to do with my life, the company I would like to keep, and how I would like to spend my days. 2011 was wonderful. Hard, but wonderful.
However, just between you and me, 2012 is going to kick ass.

Here is some inspiration for everyone's outfits tonight, which I think is completely key, since you'll be ringing in the new year with these clothes on your back. Personally, I hope you wear at least something shiny, (sparkles and sequins are preferred.)

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

I'm in Oregon for part of the holidays and took these photos in downtown Portland right after scouring Powell's books. Love, love, love Powells. It's like heaven. Bought so many good books today, I am so happy.

Oh and this poncho? AMAZING. Might as well be the #1 piece of clothing that I own. Its a Pendleton that I bought at Anthropologie, and it was such a worthwhile investment. It's the type of clothing article which is such a statement that you don't need anything else really special, just the basics. Put on a beauty like this one and just accessorize with black. I wish I could be a spokesperson for Pendleton, I love the brand so much.

Walk Like a Man

I went to The Valley with my aunt to do some Christmas things and put on these Chip & Pepper boyfriend jeans. Ive owned them forever but still count them as one of my top 5 pairs of denim that I own. I added these converse to continue the androgynous, men meets women, school boy thing going and kinda liked how it felt. I've always been attracted to androgynous dressing, especially to things like this, but rarely have ever had the guts to pull it off. So I'm trying to in small doses. I also purchased a pair of overalls that I am so psyched to show you guys. Stay tuned.

Lately I have just wanted school to end and get on break. I need some time to decompress, everyone is becoming way too much for me to handle. So I guess I'm self-medicating with Friends season 2, which in my honest opinion, is the best season.

Some time ago I was approached by Janet, the genius of Denim Refinery, to take some of my jeans and turn them into masterpieces. I am such a denim fanatic and therefore was so excited when I got these beautifully snake-ified shorts back. School Outfit

I get tons of sweet emails from readers asking to post school outfits, but because of rehearsal lately I've been getting home way after dark. Luckily, we had just enough time in the wee hours of the morning to take a few photos. Major stress on the wee hours of the morning, it was about 7:15 am, hence the lack of any real excitement or verve. But the photos take on a really nice melancholy sort of softness, don't you think?

As far as the outfit, I stumbled upon this cashmere cardigan in my room and was overjoyed to have such a staple in my closet. The tank top is vintage from the 20s- my aunt gave it to me- I've worn it twice already this week. It's amazing. The shorts I cut myself for Coachella, and the watch I never take off. This was the first time I have ever worn knee-high socks and I have to say I kinda like it.

It's December! I can't believe it! I love it! It's the holiday season!

Thanksgiving

I had one of the nicest Thanksgivings this year. Certainly the nicest I remember in recent history. It was filled with my mothers great cooking, black and white movies, a marathon of the first season of gossip girl (which I had never seen, and can I just say Serena & Dan forever, they're like Ross and Rachel, I don't care what the writers think, they belong together), friends, the beautiful LA skyline, and lots of family. Here are a few photos from the day.

I was wearing an American Apparel champagne skirt, American Apparel crop top, Steve Madden flats, vintage necklace.

I wore a variation of this outfit with this beautiful American Apparel skirt to The Ovation awards a couple days ago. When outfits work there is no reason why you can't just recycle them (although Blair Waldorf would probably want to strangle me for saying this). The Ovations were fun, its interesting to see the crossover between the LA theatre/film scene there. Was so excited to see Jon Bernthal, from my favorite series The Walking Dead, there that night.

Food and black and white movies and a beautiful Los Angeles day, what more could you want?

This is my friend Daijah, who spent thanksgiving with us. She was kind enough to take my outfit photos for me. She actually has some killer style and I'm hoping she'll foray into styling when she's older.

Fast Times

I dont know if this is universal, but in LA film photos with teenagers are huge. I know a lot of readers want to know about my private/social/high school life, so here are a couple of photos from the past couple of months with friends at parties, events etc. etc.

This is actually a real live school outfit, although it isn't a full body shot. Vintage Hawaiian with JBrand skinny jeans has been a staple over the past couple weeks.

The two above photos are from London in August on Portobello road. In the first Im wearing a vintage Ferragamo scarf, and in the second I'm wearing Genetic Denim jeans with American Apparel dance shoes and a Marc by Marc Jacobs backpack.

The above three are from my friend's birthday party in October. I'm wearing a vintage velvet dress and vintage leather boots + my Kate Spade orange Giraffe iPhone case.

This is at FYF music fest. This tank top is amazing vintage I bought at a flea market and will get detail shots as soon as possible. Its incredible.

In Edinburgh, Scotland this past summer in one of my favorite vintage sweatshirts. It has a navajo feel thats perfect for throwing on with a pair of jeans and feeling groovy.

Daydream

Went to Portland and bought these beauties at the Doc Marten store downtown. I had seen them in Edinburgh on a really chic girl this summer and couldn't get them out of my mind. I took a couple of photos sly-style on my iPhone and then matched them in the store. They are the perfect butter leather and know that they'll age well too. Couldn't help but taking these shots when the light was just right.

Going to the east coast tomorrow to look at colleges. Hopefully will get some fall pictures there, except I'm not checking a bag- it's all carry on- so I'm not sure what exciting shoes I'll be able to pack. Everything's movin' forward and can't believe I'm a junior. Watching Dazed & Confused as I reminisce and think ahead. What a paradox.

Ashish Spring 2012

Somehow stumbled upon this incredible collection from Ashish for next spring. They're like every teenager's dream, these pieces. While the collection may have lacked the word "sophistication" it sure makes up for it in pure fun, and not to mention beautiful craftsmanship and detailing. The styling here was done incredibly well, although I wouldn't wear all of the pieces together like they show here. I imagine wearing a bunch of these paired with basics like black dresses or trousers.

However, that isn't to say there weren't some faults. I hated the hats and the dark lipstick, not to mention the actually messy hair that looked like the models hadn't brushed in weeks, and there are definitely some bad 90s throwbacks in here, but it doesn't really matter. The real flowers in the 90s grunge boots and the sequins and fun play with sunflowers more than made up for the bad final touches. And then again, maybe some of the bad 90s is what makes this collection so great? Not to mention, a sequin sunflower on a sweatshirt material? Or a red brick sequin pattern on a motorcycle jacket? Sign me up! I actually got excited when I saw all of this, which is something I haven't been able to say about fashion for a long time. What's also so great is that there are more wearable pieces in this collection (for the focus shy), like the simple white frock with printed flowers. I could actually see anyone wearing that next summer. The sequin cocktail dresses are perfect for any fun awards show... or just any party. I basically want the entire collection.

I should stop with this love letter. Good job Ashish.

Uptown Girl

Been swamped with work lately. And I don't even use the expression "swamped."

This sweater is soooo beautiful. Marc knows how to construct outerwear alright. The tee is my new favorite basic sent over by the people at Stylemint. Thanks so much!

A couple of months ago something clicked inside me and suddenly I was looking at architecture and interior decorating, in addition to clothes and style. Ever since then I've fallen in love with this building in downtown LA, called the John Ferrero Building which houses LA's department of Water and Power. I love the modern design and the beautiful water pool on the top of the parking garage. In addition to my love, it's also gotten some attention from the director Christopher Nolan in a little film called Inception. Maybe you've heard of it? He shot a lot in downtown LA, (and is actually filming the Dark Knight Rises there right now), and it's nice to see my favorite building get some screen time.....
Why am I monologuing about a building here? Hope you all have a magical weekend, I'm hoping to do so, starting tomorrow, where I bake rainbow cupcakes with a bunch of my friends!

I completely didn't realize its almost been two weeks since my last post. I promise to make up for it. I've just been dealing with the play at school + 3 APs yada yada yada you don't need to know.

Took these photos in Oregon when I was there in September. This dress is one of my favorites, its vintage 70s from the flea market. In love. I can basically just throw it on and go, which I think is something everyone strives for in a dress.

I remember last February I just started listening to Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Monster was like my main theme. This vintage sweater is kind of like an ode to that song. I say its a monster, but every time I wear it to a party I get varying ideas of what it might be. A pig? a hippopotamus? Who knows. Its a monster to me.

Some shots I did for American Apparel, and look! no bangs. After coming back from the shoot I promptly got online and ordered both the riding pant and the fisherman's sweater. They are truly some major staples I recommend from AA.

Some different news on the boy front. Turns out everything is going to take a little longer than expected. Oh well, give me time for my APs and the fall play. Updates to come.

Wow. In a city of camel coats and marble gray sweaters, I am literally dying with this editorial here. Really, so much inspiration going on. The fabrics may scream spring/summer, but I think this would all be brilliant for fall- maybe layered under said camel coats and marble gray sweaters. But then again, in Los Angeles... "seasons" ?

Currently listening to Bill Joel's Best Of and marveling at the turn of events of the last few weeks. I wish I could launch a blog about it but then it would just get too personal, too fast. But after everything is settled down I'll try to write about it. Either here or in a novel. Too many options.

16 AND DANCING

At the end of August I was in Oregon waiting in a parking lot and heard Johnny Burnette's You're Sixteen come on 70s on 7 xm radio. I wouldn't be joking when I said a video flashed before my eyes. This is it.

As far as further inspiration, I wanted it to be like you were eating a cupcake, looking at vintage photographs and watching a girl who just turned 16 dance out her joy. It was just by chance that a car was in the local that I wanted to shoot it at, so now it kind of looks like a Sweet 16 car commercial. But we'll say it's all on purpose. Or as I was trying to convince a boy this weekend: everything happens for a reason.

The outfits are basically all of my favorite 60s/70s vintage pieces, except for the shoes which are a mix of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Moschino Cheap&Chic and more Marc by Marc Jacobs. The leather hair bows are American Apparel, and the hot pink jacket is H&M. The dancing is a mix of being completely seriousness and completely making fun of myself. Bought these amazing Shakuhachi suede shorts on sale this summer, love the mini pocket detailing. This jacket I bought last spring from a vintage store in Silverlake. Its sooo beautiful, I think it was a costume piece.

This was actually my airport outfit when I went to Oregon last week... I definitely got some looks.

I am actually so embarassed that it took so long to blog. Ive been busy with starting school and coming back from Europe etc. etc. By the way I started a tumblr this past summer. I talk about boys and high school and post inspiration photos and so on. Check it out here, if you want.

Princes Street

A couple weeks ago I was invited to LF's "secret" sale, which made everything 70% off. Of course I took advantage and picked up these beauties by Sam Edleman. They remind me of something a prince or princess or Alladin would wear, if they weren't stuck in their particular time or setting. When I was in Edinburgh a week ago for the Fringe festival there was much talk of a place called Princes Street. I never visited, but thats where I got the post title.

How has everyone been? Summer is drawing to a close. Im getting on a plane in the morning. Ive just recently seen a healer and visited the doctor and had a mani/pedicure and am feeling increasingly relaxed and creative. Hopefully this new inspiration and well being lends itself to the blog. Im also watching The Royal Tenenbaums for probably the 5th time this month. Wes Anderson is some sort of genius.

Last Days of Summer

Such an easy, go to outfit. The tank is actually a bathing suit. I absolutely love these American Apparel denim shorts. Finally I got the Cambridge satchel on the blog, it is so cool, and extremely bright. I had the initials TSW (the blog's) engraved on the bag since I thought it sounded way more mysterious than my real initials. Mysterious like those vintage leather bags you find in antique stores with gold lettering on it like E.M.H or something. And you wonder what person with those beautiful initials owned it.

I stole this watch from my friend Zeke. I had had my eye on it for a while and when he came back from two weeks at Brown University I grabbed it as soon as I could. After two weeks of my own, I had to return it. However, by the time you read this my personal one will have arrived in the mail. Huzzah!

Bought this jacket at the flea market after my birthday. Its officially the best thing to wear to a party with jeans and a vintage shirt. Actually, one of the best nights this summer was at a party with this jacket on. The boys really liked it. So did the girls.

Notes On The Surgery

I dont know why it took me so long to write about it, since it happened way back in June, however Im finally getting to the part about my surgery. All throughout elementary school sports and theatre class exercises, yoga poses and swimming, I had trouble breathing and inhaling deeply. Finally, in February we went and visited a doctor, who told us that the left side of my septum was 80% deviated. On top of that, because of the extra pollution in Los Angeles and the irritation caused by insufficient breathing, the other side closed up the remaining passageway, so virtually no air was coming out of my left nostril. This is why I had elongated sicknesses, headaches, occasional trouble sleeping etc. etc. The doctor told me the surgery would change my life. And so we scheduled an appointment, and there we have it. He went in and straightened the septum, and I came out with a slightly different nose. I am fully healed now and enjoying breathing fully for once.
Hope that wasn't too much of a let down! I know many of you were itching to know what had happened.

Took these photos with blackberry plants behind me. Oregon is so beautiful, I definitely recommend visiting there at least once in your life.

How are you liking the Floral Series so far? I'm enjoying it since it gave me a chance to frolic in the fields and act like a fairy in the woods and live out my lifelong dream. Truthfully, if given the choice of having any career in the entire world, I would choose something like "Rose Fairy" or "Blue Sprite" or "Spring Pixie." Although of all three, I would definitely choose the fairy.

The other day I went to Barney's with my mom and had a fantastic time going through all the clothes, especially since almost everything is on mega-sale. Whenever I buy something from Barney's I always end up wearing it way more than anything else in my wardrobe. Floral Crowns: Part 2 - The Rose Fairy

Here's the first floral crown I made. All the photos in this series were taken in Oregon, which is very beautiful and green. I went with the theme of all the greenery and dressed up in lace for a fairyland feel. Truthfully, all I'd really ever wanted to be in my life is a fairy... but that isn't an especially realistic career choice.

Coach Classics Saddle Bag

A couple months ago I was invited by Vanessa at Coach to attend a cocktail party and then dinner in Hollywood with all the local California blogger girls. Of course I said yes! It was such a magical night, I had such a great time with the girls from Coach as well as Karla, Raych, Valerie, and Jazzi, to name a few. I also brought home this beautiful saddle bag!

The bag is from a collection called Coach Classics that was made in collaboration with Net-A-Porter.com. The line includes a whole bunch of silhouettes resurrected from the 1970s. Macaron Striptease

My dad brought me these macaron's from my favorite restaurant called Bottega Louie in downtown. The food is incredible there and the deserts are so good.

Just returned from seeing Midnight in Paris with my dad and step-mom. It really was fantastic. The casting was so good, there were so many actors there that I recognized and was glad to see again. Its movies like that that do a lot of things to a person. At first when I got home I wanted to write all about it. Now I am a little bit more tired since its only been 4 days since the surgery. All I can say is I loved all the costumes. Allison Pill is stunning, I loved the man who played Hemingway and I'd like to marry Tom Hiddleston. Seeing all the different portrayals of some of the world's greatest artists, writers, thinkers on screen was so wonderful. I am trying not to get too sappy here and using all the adjectives and descriptives that I can. Sometimes I get mad that I dont have such a set in stone style like Marion Cotillard's roaring twenties character in the film, or even Rachel McAdam's character who plays the perpetual bitch in the 21st century. It also boils down to a "who am I?" routine that I would rather not get in to. But then I have to remind myself that each of these actresses has a costume designer and that of course they have to look put together otherwise the film would just be all over the place. I had more to say but I guess I'll leave that to another conversation, another day.

Anyways I loved it. Its like a macaron of a film. Just sweet.

I am currently in Oregon eating s'mores, drinking sparkling water and watching the greatest BBC series Sherlock. It's so nice to finally be on summer. On Tuesday I go back to Los Angeles (not a moment too soon, I miss the city life), go to a photo shoot and then a birthday dinner. The next day I have my surgery. (We'll talk about that later)

Anyway, I got this dress from my step-mom for the my 16th. I dont know how she knew I would love this so much but I do. It is an incredible piece of vintage, and I mean i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-e. I love the deco inspired woman head and the Chrysler building and their reflections of each other. It fits like a glove too, which doesn't hurt its popularity points. Dresses like these make me so happy.

To Buy or Not To Buy: A Dilemma

I am going to be upfront about this: I buy knockoffs if they're well done. You've seen them here on the blog. Jeffrey Campbell does a great job at it, I am very thankful for the brand. So naturally I kind of went crazy when I saw that these Chloe knockoff boots had become available to the mass market for under $200. I had stalked the original ones for what had felt like years; I've loved the infamous doc marten/wedge silhouette ever since I first saw it. I still have an ebay alert set up in case a certain pair walks in the door with a size 9 and my name on it. But Ill say it, I don't really have $600 to spend on a pair of shoes. So then these shoes are a gift from heaven. However, here is where the dilemma comes in.

Can you support a brand that blatantly knocks off designers to profit for themselves? Morally I would say it's wrong. But then again, it happens everywhere. Singers constantly do covers of other people's songs, and nobody complains. Directors remake movies all the time. Left and right you see it happening. So what is right and what is wrong? I don't have an answer here. Like I said before, I buy knockoffs. I love these boots. But still, I'm conflicted.

I think I have mentioned a million times before that I have a huge interest in photography. I like to use disposables a lot for when hanging out with friends, and of course a Canon DSLR for the blog (I just ordered the T2i to also start taking HD video to make my own short films!) I also use a Panasonic Lumix for various family events and gatherings, a Fisheye for music festivals, and a Holga for summer fun. Then there is this Canon 35mm film camera. Its big and bulky and from the 80s. It was a gift from a stage manager who my mom worked with when she produced a musical a couple summers ago. I have only used it once before, and decided to pull it out again a couple days ago and really try to master the art. I still have some work to do, but here is what I came up with in the mean time.
Have I ever talked about my affinity for 70s dresses? They aren't up on the blog as much as they should be but I really love them; they're so much fun to find and collect. They're so full of personality, they always make me wonder what woman wore them before me.

Im fascinated with how light hits an object in photos. I guess thats the principal thing in photography, but I love how the sun catches this silk shirt I bought at Forever 21 last year. It hasn't been on the blog, but I felt like I should point out I cut off all the buttons and replaced them with beautiful mother of pearl ones. I felt like a real housewife when I was sewing and it felt good.

And it wouldn't be a roll of film without a picture of flower porn to complete it.

Apologies on my absence for the past couple of weeks. Final projects and finals have really gotten the better of me, as well as the planning of a small trip to Oregon next week, and a major surgery in less than half a month (will discuss later.) I have a DIY coming up that Im excited to show you as well. Summer is going to be great.

THE Jumpsuit

I don't even know where to start with this thing. A couple weeks ago, while trying to decide the 6 (finally narrowed it down to 3) outfit changes I was going to have at my birthday party, (it was like my wedding you guys, no joke, it was ridiculous), I was perusing online vintage stores and stumbled upon this jumpsuit. At first I thought I thought of it as a joke and emailed my mom the link with "Sweet Sixteen Outfit?" in the title, but then the more I thought about it the more I liked it, and then finally I just had to have it for the big night. Long story short, I had so much fun in this thing. It was incredible. I think a lot of people just stared at me in disbelief and couldn't swallow the fact that I was currently in a head to toe blue, green, purple geometric ... something. But whatever, it didn't matter what they thought. All that mattered was that I liked it. And I did.
Cause hey, I'm 16.

I've gotten a lot of references to the jumpsuit being "Pucci-esque" which I completely agree on. I still can't figure out the date on this thing, though. I thought it was from the 80s, my aunt and her friend argued that it was 70s, but the colors didn't seem right for the 70s. My mom had to agree that it was 80s. Maybe a happy median is a 70s inspired piece from the 80s... yes?

A couple weeks ago I went to the American Apparel headquarters and modeled some summer clothes for their vintage line. Raffi, (who you can see modeling in the new Gingham! Ads, which are sometimes on the banner at the top of this page), got to style the shoot, and I love how he mixed neutral colors together. Something unexpected but definitely fresh for the oncoming heat in summer months.

I love going in to shoot at AA, everyone is so nice and they always play the best 80s/90s music. Its also interesting when new pieces rush past you that are in the beginning stages of development and haven't been seen by the outside world yet. Im not at all lying when I say I love American Apparel. Its completely and absolutely true, or as I like to say, TRUTH!

Coachella

I know I am unbelievably beyond comprehension late (try a month and a couple days). Here are the photos though! Its funny, immediately after Coachella I rushed myself into new york and didn't really miss it, and now, a month later I miss it so much. Its such a whirl wind of activity and it goes by so fast its like it didn't even happen. Funny how things work that way.

The photos were taken by a combination of my handy Panasonic Lumix DMX5 and disposable film.

Day 1 outfit

The Aquabats was one of the most fun shows. Museum of Modern Art

Here are some photos my dad shot of me in April in New York at the Museum of Modern Art. I prefer modern art to anything else, really. I love it. My dad and I actually ended up visiting the museum three times while we were there. Not only do they allow you to take pictures, the museum gave me a button that said Make Shadows on it... it's pretty good.

The entire outfit is from Goodwill. I spent a Saturday night with my best friend Rose a couple weeks ago. We originally planned to see my friend's band perform at the Whiskey A Go-go, but instead we found ourselves at The Grove watching a midnight showing of Source Code with the extremely attractive Jake Gyllenhaal. We also cut off these shorts. Wearing blue button downs with blue jean shorts is my favorite outfit right now. So easy.

Saw Thor. Oh my god, Chris Hemsworth. I knew it when I saw him in Star Trek. Then again, so did all of Australia.

I wore this to go to the Museum of Modern Art on Saturday. This dress is another gift from my aunt, its from the 1920's or 30's. I had one of those funny experiences when a family member surprises you with what they say. My aunt had told me about some dress she has that is very "Philip Lim" but vintage. I didn't believe her when she told me this, about the Philip Lim part I mean, partly because I didn't know Philip Lim had that much of a distinct style and partly because I guess I had no faith in my aunt. Well I was proved wrong, extremely wrong. When she gave it to me I saw that she was completely right, it reminds me of something Philip Lim would do.

I ended up wearing these wedges 4 out of the 5 days I spent in the city. They are so comfortable.

Airport Outfit

I know the subject of airplane dressing is always big. What do you wear when youre crammed into a tiny area with people all around you for 5+ hours? I believe in the idea of dressing up for the plane, or at least in the idea of leaving your sweatpants at home. Flying used to be a bigger deal, it used to be a luxury, exciting. Now I feel like many take it for granted. Id like to take it back to that time when all the stewardesses were young and super excited to work on a plane, with their hats and matching outfits, and the travelers were equally as excited, so much so that they dressed up. Not when the flight attendants are rude to you if you ask them to throw away your coffee cup, and the passengers prefer ratty tshirts to button ups. Thats just me though...

Another quick post amidst packing for Manhattan and some last minute shopping and rehearsal for a scene I'm doing in a festival in a couple weeks. These are photos from a couple weeks ago, just meant to liven up this post. I've always been fascinated with how you can change an outfit just by changing one thing in it, in this case the grey knit shorts to the American Apparel jeans- side note: AA is making jeans now!

COACHELLA WAS BEAUTIFUL. Exactly what I needed. Im still dealing with some leftover emotions from the breakup, but I just have to remember that we were complete opposites and I need to focus on things that really matter to me. How I Met Your Style Feature

Three weeks ago I was approached by Carmen Chan from How I Met Your Style to do a shoot at my house showcasing my closet/room/jewelry/piano/cats and everything else that's part of my life, apart from clothes. The next week we got together and shot these photos!

How I Met Your Style is simultaneously a personal and interior style website showcasing your favorite bloggers' houses and lives photographed by Carmen and her friend/photography mentor Ken Wu. I am actually really excited about this, and am looking forward to see how this site progresses. I see great things ahead; the photos are beautiful! Carmen used a mixture of 95% film photo, only a select few she shot digitally. This is the kind of old school stuff that I love! Carmen was so lovely, and I am so sad she's leaving LA! Please Don't Eat The Daisies

So... break ups are hard. It happened yesterday, and it's especially difficult when you feel like you were trying to fix it and everything had only been really bad the past week, and you try to help him see the light at the end of the tunnel. Afterward, I blamed myself, found myself at fault for everything. I did a lot of self-damage. I got home and sat down on the couch, I didn't know where to go from there, what to do, what the hell is next? He'd been a part of my life for 5+ months. I didn't want homework or ice cream or American Idol. I didn't know what the next step was. Being single sucks, but I couldn't imagine myself with anyone but him.
After waking up from a nightmare about him at 6:50 a.m. this morning, I sat down on the floor of my bedroom and cried for some time. I just couldn't believe it was the end. How he could just end it, just like that? It felt so... unfinished. But then I got up and spent the next hour going through my closet and purging myself of all the unwanted clothes I had and filled two trash bags full. I took a shower. I watched two movies (The Producers and The Odd Couple) and went to a piano lesson where my very funny and very literal teacher told me "No more boys for a while." My mother bought me two sets of flowers, including the daisies I'm holding, since in You've Got Mail (our favorite movie, Ive watched a million times) Meg Ryan professes her love towards daisies to Tom Hanks, saying "They're the friendliest flower." Then I put on this outfit and went and saw Suckerpunch with a good group of friends. I thought about the conversation he and I had had ten days earlier about going to see it. He was on a continuous loop of flashbacks in my head that I couldn't turn off. After the movie we all went to dinner, and I told my friends the full breakup story and they were all there for me: threatening to egg his house, damage his car, "ninja his ass", and more stuff like that.

Now Im here, writing this, and I feel better. Way better. It reminded me of the beauty of people and camaraderie and spending time with friends, not just your significant other, whom Id found myself caught up in recently.

The breakup was a huge slap in the face, and over the last 30+ hours Ive had time to self-reflect and see the destructive path I had been traveling on, which I wont go into. Ill just say this: I was unhappy, I was eating ice cream everyday, excessively shopping. I gained five pounds. But now this happened yesterday in March, and today its April, and its time to turn over a new leaf. My horoscope says to sever all ties to relationships that aren't working this month. And so I miss him, and his quiet quirks and affinity for electronic music, but its for the best. I have more time to work on the blog, play piano, take acting classes, finish that script I've been writing, read more books, balance my chakras, and take time to find myself again.

What I learned was that communication is the key to relationships, and if there is no talking, there is nothing. Maybe writing this will prove hurtful in the long run if one of his friends reads this, (Ben, stop reading, you have him all to yourself now, okay?), especially since part of me still wants to be back with him, (and I kinda feel like Jesse Eisenberg in the Social Network right about now) but I felt like my lovely readers should understand whats going on, and join me in starting on a new blank page.

Now excuse me, Ive got to go watch James Franco on The Late Show talk about the human instinct to survive, because hey, he is one good looking man, in a sea of very available fish out there... that I am just starting to dive in to.

I call this dress my goodluck dress, not because I ace tests or win the lotto in it, but because I have the absolute most fun in it. Last month I went to a party in it and not only did I receive a compliment from basically every other girl in the vicinity, but also that was probably the best party I have ever been to. Last Thursday I put it on and headed out to Malibu with my mother to hang out with Chip and Pepper Foster of Chip & Pepper and also Pray For Mother Nature denim. Amongst other fun things (like free denim, yay!) the highlight was climbing the roof of their house and just chillin, you know, lookin at Catalina and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. (Thankfully I have photos of that crazy roof climbin' experience)

Coincidentally, both the dress and the bracelets I am wearing are from my aunt. She found the dress at a thirftstore a month ago and showed it to me. At first, I was hesitant, and my mother just plain hated it, but after trying it on, I decided to go home with it. I am so glad I did. It reminds me of some sort of victorian nightgown in the 1800s (of course with a modern/sherlock holmes/houndstooth/manly twist.) The bracelets are from a flea market, and last week I wore them 7 days in a row. No joke. Every single day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc. etc and so on. I am in love with these bracelets... absolutely obsessed.

I was in Zara a couple weeks ago with two dresses in my hand. One, a small lace baby doll dress, and the other, the dress I'm wearing here. I tried on both and showed them to my mother, aunt, and friend Ronnie that were there at the time. I held up the lace dress and said "This is who I want to be," and held up the orange one and said "And this is who I am." They all unanimously agreed that the orange one was the one I should go with.

Sometimes I get in a mood where all I want to wear is soft dreamy cottons and creams and whites and chiffon layers like I am in some sort of fantasy fairy land film. I seem to feel like this every spring, as my mother points out. If I had the choice I would actually wear this type of clothing all the time, but I actually dont find enough of it in quality designs and fabrics. Sometimes you just get sick of the regular things you wear every day, you know? All this street style and fierce stuff... black and grey? Its getting a little boring. Then again, this is coming from the person who just bought Dr. Martens...

I bought this beautiful leather bag in Palm Springs last spring, it has a bucks face embossed into it! Ive never seen anything like it. And the cat face ring from Verameat? Oh yea, that. I am in love! The detail is incredible. I now want the bulldog. Thank you dad!

I bought the latest edition of POP Magazine with Elton John and fruit on the cover. The entire issue is like a work of art, Ill try to post some scans I find particularly stunning soon. I just bought Elton's greatest hits album on iTunes (after putting it off for a long time) and Ive been playing it on shuffle/repeat all day. Ive listened to Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word probably ten times, which might seem a little too much, but I can never get enough Elton. Its interesting how songs can remind you of certain periods of time in your life. Elton John reminds me of middle school, which is both good and bad, since I have different experiences tied to memories of that time. But as I listen to him more the less it reminds me of then and the more it reminds me of now. While its nice to let go of the past and get rid of the emotion that resurfaces when you choose a certain track, its also sad since that time has passed and the memories are fading. But hey, lets cheer up and listen to some Crocodile Rock!

The Coat

I bought this coat at a flea market several months ago and I have been waiting for the right time to wear it on the blog. It has the most beautiful silky lining and the outside? The buttons alone I could write a book on, or at least a very loving love letter to. The shortened bell sleeves are stunningly executed with green trim and the actual texture of the coat is wonderfully rough and keeps a person so warm. My gosh.

My favorite nail polish right now, Essie in Lilacism! Pastels have been looking really good to me lately, which is odd, because I never used to. As my boyfriend has told me "Wow, you really like pastels." I seem to be wearing them too much.

The bracelet I am wearing is a gift from my friend and her mom as a late christmas present. I had admired her mom's bracelet last winter, and they decided to make me one. They collected a bunch of antique catholic charms from flea markets for several months and compiled it all onto one chain. I am in love with this bracelet, I still haven't gotten over the shock of receiving it... and I got it a couple weeks ago...

Lately Ive been saying Sup? as just a greeting. Its a lot of fun to say, the sound it makes is really clear and it pops, like bubbles in champagne... or apple cider or whatever. Sup, sup, sup. Im having way too much fun with the word. Its hilarious.

Ive collected these photos over the past couple of months... do you see a pattern? The pattern-less bright maxi skirt with a small white tee seems so refreshing to me right now, a look made famous by Jil Sanders Spring 2011 collection. These photos make me happy, especially right now as Im dealing with being let down by different friends of mine. You know, its just the type of social upset that is expected to be the norm in highschool. But really, right now Im hurting and it isn't any fun. But in happier news, my boyfriend gave me a strand of beautiful blue pearls for Valentines Day, and Im still in shock over it.

I was thisclose to naming the post Why The Longgg Face? But I thought that would have been a little too much, for various reasons.

TGIF.

I bought this crazy 70s polyester dress several months ago... either in December or last summer, Ive forgotten exactly when, however the point is, I bought it, (for a beautiful price of something like $20) and never wore it, until now. The zipper on the back is a little weird and sometimes comes undone, but the dress itself is fantastic and I can not get enough.

A lot of my friends at school were bitter about Valentine's Day today. I know that its commercial and it was created by the Halmark people or whatever, but really? I've never been bitter about the holiday, single or not; I just never saw the point in being negative. Its like being mad at President's day because the majority of us are not the president. As far as I am concerned, Valentine's day is just an excuse to wear pink or red or white or purple or all of the above!

I am actually in awe that I own this dress. I remember seeing it in Teen Vogue years ago- in their annual prom issue- and I'd always remembered it. Truly its stunning. Phillip Lim always makes the prettiest little dresses. I wish I could meet him, or at least talk to him. I'd love to know how he thinks up these beauties.

I was in the wackiest mood when I took these photos. Seriously, I am wacky already, but this moment in time takes the cake. My mother at one point goes "What the hell?" and starts laughing really hard because of a "~~pose"~~ ~~dance~~ move I made.

I have been wearing a lot of pants on the blog lately, this will change come spring, but I just had to show you these Pray for Mother Nature trouser jeans. I love the fit, they sort of remind me of sweatpants. Pray For Mother Nature's product is always spot on, the quality, fit, detailing. Its craftsmanship like this that makes me believe if I ever went into fashion, Id work at a denim company. I am crazy for jeans.

Ive talked previously about my interest in photography and disposable film. I finally branched out to the old school stuff and used some legit 35mm in a Canon that a friend of my moms gave me when he learned that I was interested in film photos. Taking a break from history notes to update with an outfit from a few days ago. My mom surprised me on Sunday with this beautiful silk shirt when I got back from a theatre retreat with my school. I am in love with it. Oh and I have always wanted a pair of "riding pants" and I think Ive found my pair in these ones.

During winter break I decided to learn how to play the ukulele and have wanted to get the Hawaiian-famous-mini-guitar in some photos ever since. I think it is the sweetest instrument, and actually really easy to play. I definitely recommend picking one up one day, if you have the chance.

I wore this to dim sum downtown with the family on Saturday. I love the architecture in this city and the downtown area is no exception. We shot these photos at the Ahmanson Theatre/Mark Taper Forum, they have a beautiful courtyard there with this stunning fountain and statue.

I've been wearing a lot of green lately. Army green, forest green, evergreen; it's all good to me. I wore so much of the color the other day that my boyfriend said I looked "like a tree." Aw, thanks. Anyway, I bought this wool jacket at an army surplus store several months ago and it hasn't gotten much air time, but I took it out for a photo shoot on Friday and realized its beauty once again. I remember stalking a woman in the store who was trying it on until she put it down again. It was crazy, but Im glad I did. The green cargo leggings are from Pray for Mother Nature, a new brand established by Chip Foster- of the denim duo Chip & Pepper. These are kind of my favorite pants right now, not going to lie. I love the fit.

I know I've said it before but jewelry remains one of my favorite things about an outfit. Jewelry is very unique to each individual and none two collections are the same. I've also grown quite a passion for pretty jewelry holders. I love that I was able to find the teal blue cups that match the roughly molded saucers. I bought both sets at the Fairfax flea market on separate occasions. The teacups are vintage, and the saucers were handmade by a boy who's mother makes Chinese pottery. I think they're my favorite part of my room.

Its one of my favorite pieces to throw on for a spin on a simplistic silver chain and pendant.

I see days and dates and years in terms of colors. January is white in my head, as is 2011. This editorial from W's January issue features Young Hollywood's current ingenues of the moment dressed in pretty chiffons and silks and coton in pale subdued colors that seem very fresh and of the moment to me, which I think goes hand in hand with the certain new year which we are now faced with.

Lately I've been going to bed at very late hours, mostly because I've been on the iPad watching classics on instant Netflix. However, a couple nights ago I watched In & Out with Kevin Kline, a comedy from the 90s about an English teacher who, three days before his wedding and unbeknownst to him, is outed as being gay on national television by one of his ex-students who has just won an Academy Award. Hilarity ensues as he tries to convince his bride, the town, and the onslaught of media reporters that he is not in fact, gay, and it was just a big misunderstanding. One of my favorite scenes in the film is where he puts in a cassette in his stereo that is going to teach him how to be "manly." The tape at one point says "Are you wearing sufficiently manly clothes?" and Kevin looks down at his purple plaid and black jeans and nods yes, and tape goes "Good. Untuck your shirt." Kevin starts to untuck his shirt when the tape says "Only ONE side." And Kevin goes "Awww man!!!"
I tried to incorporate that scene into the American Apparel sheer button down Im wearing- my favorite shirt right now- which I have untucked only one side.

I had to get a photo of these wagon wheel/flying saucer silver earrings that my aunt gave me for christmas. They may be one of my favorite gifts I got this season, in addition to my Verameat spine ring, and the jacket Im wearing here thats from the 20s and reminds of the Prada Spring 2011 banana/tropical/monkey themed clothing.

Outfit from a few days ago.

Saw Ashley Olsen on Sunday at this italian restaurant called La Buca, she was with her Justin Bartha. She wore the infamous Balenciaga thigh highs, (in addition too a fur trimmed trench with silk boyfriend shorts and an oatmeal colored sweater), which made me realize that I haven't worn my knock-off Sam Edlemens in a long time. Will wear tomorrow.

Also, can not get enough of this floral silver ring sent over to me from the creative woman at Ziba Khatibi Raw Jewelery. I recently watched Lord of the Rings and thought it would've fit in perfectly with all the elven silver circlets, pendants and crowns that everyone wore.

Ive worn this coat three days in a row now, despite having a bunch of winter jackets that need air time. The shape is perfect, just enough boyish inspiration, and the color is a wonderful army green... it also doesnt hurt that I bought it on sale. The dress is also wonderful, I love the structure of it. The fabric is really heavy which makes it ideal for wintertime.

I saw Tron... twice. I thought visually it was absolutely stunning. I left the theater with a thirst for blue neon and a neoprene body suit, despite their being completely the opposite of what I actually like to wear. I really recommend seeing it, especially since Garrett Hedlund's voice is like listening to a deep rumbling waterfall.

When I was 10 years old I was fascinated with the idea of changing my name. Or more specifically, changing my name to Rebecca, or Becca for short. While the idea of actually changing my name never came to fruition, I still kept the name Rebecca close to my heart. Now, Im not saying the reason why I love Rebecca Hall so much is because her name is, in fact, Rebecca, but it definitely didnt hurt.

Rebecca Hall is incredible to look at, and even more wonderful on the screen. I know this editorial is old news, I mean its from August, and we're basically to 2011 already (side bar- how scary is that? 2010 almost over?! what are you crazy?). Anyways, I was going through some old magazines and found this spread. And since I had been meaning to mention sometime on this blog that The Town was a stunning movie, and that Ben Affleck did such an amazing job, I thought why not have some visuals to go along with it?

I also felt like the clothes in these photos were directly related to the current weather LA is experiencing. Its apparently December in Los Angeles, at least according to the calendar, but we've had hot days for the past half week or so, and it doesn't look like any of that is going away. This editorial is just like it, there is the sun coming through the windows (sun = LA weather right now), but theres also black party dresses (party dresses = holiday = wintertime), so while this editorial may have come out in August, it is still as current as if it were on newstands right now.

This is probably my favorite sweatshirt. I know I say everything is my favorite, but really, this is my favorite. Ive been purchasing cheesy sweaters like this a lot lately, (they are easy to find at thrift stores, by the way), they are so much fun. I wore this one to school last week and no joke, I had at least ten boys come up to me and compliment it.
The men love this sweatshirt.

The clutch Im carrying is the perfect size, shape and type of leather. This is the second one I bought, the first one being black. I also bought it in a small pouch version to carry around my student ID, and credit card, and loose change etc. I love this clutch so much, my mom and I fight over it...

I've been wearing jeans everyday at school now because of their pure simplicity. You put them on and go, you dont have to worry about skirts flying up or nylons ripping or dresses being too short. Wearing these Katherine Hepburn-esque 40s trousers last week was a nice break. They were a gift from my aunt when she cleaned out her closet and they're beautifully made, with pleating in the front that I didn't get photos of.

Who else is in love with Conan Obrien's new commercials? When he's dyeing silk with those women wrapped in saris and saying "I mean girlfriend come on"? Pure comedic genius.

Thanksgiving Day

I am drowning under a sea of homework as our play reaches closer and closer to OPENING NIGHT. I had an actor's nightmare last night. It was awful.

My favorite part of this outfit? My new Super sunglasses and the rosary that was a gift from the designers at Ken + Dana. The Supers I saw on a boy at school and I kept stealing from him because I loved them so much. Finally I bought my own, although he's told me Im not allowed to wear them at school... hmph. As far as the rosary, its the coolest necklace. I own so many rosaries and this by far takes the cake. Ken + Dana design always integrate messages into their jewelry, and this one features the juxtaposition of having a firing pin as the main part of a rosary. Its inscribed with Isaiah 2:4 which says "Then they will hammer their swords into plow-blades." Im not especially religious but I dont think you need to be. I love the message on this one.

Meeting the boyfriend's parents is nerve-wracking. This feeling is further amplified when you are meeting the sister AND various other family members all in one night. I am just thanking the heavens above for this crazy comfortable grandpa sweater that I bought a couple days ago, it definitely got me through the night with its soft cable knit that hugged me as if say everything was going to be all right. Everyone needs a sweater like this.

This dress has dragonflies on it, and some beautiful glass beading down the front. I need to get it tailored so its shorter, but Ive been meaning to get it on the blog for a while.

The holidays are here! You have no idea how happy I am. I've added a couple of sparkly party dresses to my arsenal which Im too excited to whip out at a moment's notice. No big deal, but the holidays are only the best. Its not even about the presents. Its about the atmosphere.

Im currently listening to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Its so soulful and calming, which is what I really need right now. Im definitely in the mood to watch this movie tonight.

The Plant Family

The weather has been very strange the past couple of days. Its been hot and cold and windy all at the same time! This has allowed me to wear a rainbow variety of clothing which has been very fun. I purchased this little chiffon number on the same day as the dress in the post below. It was a 50s themed day! I find that when Im shopping I tend to purchase items in the same color scheme and/or same decade.

I watched How To Train Your Dragon the other night and it was such a beautiful movie! The soundtrack was also great, John Powell did an amazing job... Of course I had to purchase it on iTunes the next day.

Meanwhile, I have been dealing with the craziest most tiring schedule ever. Im in a play that requires me to be thrown on the floor a million times, I have bruises all over my legs because of it now. I am definitely excited for the thanksgiving break, and of course blog posts will be in abundance during that time! Or at least that's the plan.

This Halloween beats last years hands down, considering the fact that last year I had the flu. This one I hung out with my friends and generally had a wonderful time. Hope yours was filled with ghouls, goblins, and happy memories.

This is the longest my cat Snafu has ever stayed in my arms since becoming a teenager cat. When she was little she used to pass out in my arms like she was dead, but now its all cold stares and general indifference towards me. (Remind you of any particular stage in life?) She's still great and completely festive for Halloween though.

Varrying Degrees of Red

I went through a fascination with (faux) fur a couple weeks ago and bought this jacket, its the perfect blend of casual and elegant. The dress was an incredible find at the fairfax flea market about a month or so ago. It fits just right. The bracelet is also from the flea, its incredible! I love the crazy colorful patterns.

And these earrings.... I bought them in a thrift store in Palm Springs months ago for about $3 and despite wearing them constantly this is the first time they've been on the blog. Ive worn them to school a bunch and when I do some boy will always comment on them. They are a favorite amongst the men. I find that fact hilarious.

Oh and yeah. New nail polish. Im digging it. A lot, a lot.

About two weeks ago I helped throw a surprise party for my best friend. It was such an incredible success! I'm not exaggerating when I say it was probably the most fun I've ever had. I realized that I could use some of the party photos from that night to form together a post, even though it wasn't the type of event to get a full body outfit shot.

The floral dress I wore was vintage 1970s. I found it a couple weeks ago in a vintage store on Melrose. My mom was with me at the time and said that it was the type of dress she would've worn in high school. And as the birthday girl said "I love florals on a black background!"

In case you were wondering, for the birthday gift I gave her my collaboration ring with Mr. Kate: The Stylish Wanderer x Mr. Kate presents Le Cadeau bow ring! She fell in love with it when she saw me wear it at school and so of course I had to get her one!

When I saw this editorial the word WOW literally slipped from my lips. Even though its a take on mod 60s style I feel like this was distinctly fresh feeling, especially in a fashion world that enjoys the Balmain rocker jackets more than anything. I'd probably never have the guts to pile on so many brights, but I applaud Vogue Germany for trying this.

I was going to try to take some pictures this weekend but a bunch of things got in the way on Saturday, and now I have a huge pile of homework to tackle, and on top of all that the rain started today. But! On the bright side I bought a new pair of TOMS yesterday in red, my old army green ones had holes in them, and I'm looking to match it up with a red sweater soon to be purchased on ebay.

This is my favorite sweater, Ive been eagerly awaiting putting it on but its been so hot. Ive taken a little break from AP homework to write this post, its been too long, I have so many things going on, I helped throw a party on Saturday and it was the most fun Ive probably ever had in my life, and Im listening to Marvin Gaye. Oh and Ive been going crazy about Verameat jewelery.

Los Angeles high school/teenage style is fairly interesting, especially when you start talking about the social standards that go along with it, and facebook, and the valley kids, and the "King of the Valley Kids." Most of the time the teenagers I hang out with, and the teenagers I see, basically all like to wear earth tones, vintage pieces, florals, and lots and lots of messy bracelets. Theres something about the way these kids dress that's very precious and very sloppy, sometimes a little worn down, all at the same time. For instance, a girl at my school one time wore a big floppy bow in her hair one day that was falling halfway off her head, but she didn't seem to care. Its kinda like, this might not fit me, but Ill wear it anyway cause its standard "cool." Or something. Im not necessarily saying this is bad or good. Im still lacking the words to accurately describe the social style around me. Ill keep working on it.

This past summer I blogged about going to a Pre-Spring Preview of Porst 1961, and briefly talked about a scarf I bought there. Well here it is, finally in detail.

Tia Cibani, the creative director at Ports, basically created a masterpiece when she produced this scarf. It is like wearing a piece of art around... so incredible! I bought this one and my aunt bought a cream linen one as well. They were on sale and too good to pass up. There are about a dozen clear snap closures on the edges of the piece so that you can fashion it in multiple ways- wrap it around your body like an apron, let it lie free, tie it around your neck etc. and the accordion type folding makes it ingenious.

Sometimes fashion can go wrong, and sometimes it can go very, very right...

Ah, gosh. Thats the first thing that comes to mind when reviewing Rochas Spring 2011. There comes a rare moment in a season when you just believe wholeheartedly in a collection, where you see brilliant piece after brilliant piece and never want it to stop, and I think this is it. While I loved Rodarte, and Proenza, and Jil Sander, I chose to kick off my reviewing season (despite fashion month being almost over) with my favorite collection so far. Rochaaaaas.

The palette was lowkey- almost tame, in some places, and then bright and revolutionary in others. I loved the wacky prints, the pale pinks and vivid blues. There were feminine figures and oversized jackets, and it turned into such brilliant feat that I could imagine myself wearing every piece. Especially those voluminous skirted dresses (seen here in the blue pattern and wedding cream colors.) It reminded me of an art museum, and rightly so. These pieces belong in a museum. The whole thing felt distinctly Parisian, and I wish upon hope upon wish that I will one day get to see these pieces in real life, and maybe even- dare I say it- wear one...?

Well basically W magazine has stolen my heart forever more. They did it again with this feminine-centered editorial featuring Georgia May Jagger shot by Craig McDean and styled by Alex White. Its so lady-like and beautiful as to be perfect. Georgia May stars in another fantastic Fall glamor spread, and thankfully this time it's in an American publication, so you don't have to drop sixteen dollars in order to be able to hold the piece in your hands.

Meanwhile I was cast in the play at my school in a major role, Im taking a very demanding history class, and LA doesnt seem to want to accept the oncoming fall weather. What am I going to do?

Ive been patiently waiting for fall so I could wear these vintage bell bottom trousers sent to me from Ramona West, along with three new fall coats I bought, some toile tees (my new favorite fabric), and a camel skirt.

Love my new Joes Jeans platforms... I never used to understand (wo)mankind's addiction to shoes until about half a year ago. Now I think need to go to shoe therapy or something equally as cheesy and tragic as that.

Forever 21 Style Muse

Way back in June I shot a campaign for Forever 21 with Rumi, Kelly, and Emily. We all got to go to the Forever 21 studios downtown, style outfits and then shoot them. It was so great hanging out with all the girls, especially since we all had come together under one roof because of the same passion.

As well as the looks styled in the feature, each blogger created mini-boutiques where you can shop our own style. Had you asked me a couple years ago if ever was going to model and style for a big company like Forever 21 I would've said it was impossible.

Green Machine

For some reason when I wear green I like to wear it in large quantities. I went to Disneyland yesterday and a person in our group said "I love everything green." I think I might have to agree.

This is sort of a farewell-to-summer-hello-fall outfit. I mixed the bright spring green with a thick cashmere sweater and wooly knit chain... its a fusion of summer and fall fabrics.

Missoni partnered with Pellegrino to design their label with the famous Missoni knit print. It was coincidental that I was drinking the blue/green bottle today and at the same time it matched my outfit.

I first saw this sterling angel wing ring last year in August and fell in love. I waited a year to finally purchase it since it was so expensive to ship from France. Im so ecstatic that now I can wear in on my hand whenever I want.

Ive worn these sparkly socks with these jazz shoes 3 times in the past week (Ive washed the socks of course!) I think its such a fun pairing.

Wonderland

I put on my favorite silhouette, the long skirt, today! I think I also subconsciously channeled my new favorite book: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll and illustrated by Camille Rose Garcia. My friend showed me this book during the school year and I finally bought it on amazon.com a couple of weeks ago. The illustrations are so beautiful and creepy, so going with that theme I found myself in this very feminine outfit (like Alice's dress in the book) with an tinge of evil. For the evil part I put on the creepiest and best tooth earrings by Triskaidekaphobia.

This silk floral 60s top is so beautiful! My mom found it at a thrift store a week ago and gave it to me. Its perfect for throwing on with a pair of jeans and just completely changing the mood of the entire outfit.

Las Vegas (Huge Picture Post)

Vegas is one of my favorite places, which is strange to some since Im under 21 and cant really do anything that Vegas was made for. However, I have so much fun there. My dad takes me there a lot, and in the past two weeks Ive been twice on two separate occasions. Here are the photos from those trips.

The Wynn is one of my favorite hotels. The decor doesnt exactly fit into one category except for something like "fun extravagance," like these chandeliers. Its sister hotel Encore has incredible chandeliers as well but I forgot to take a photo. Imagine oversized and red velour and you get the picture. I love it.

Took these photos in the bathroom of our hotel room, since I could climb all over the sink. This dress was given to me by the people at the Verizon Wireless shoot. Its by Theory and its so beautiful you cant even imagine! I wore it to see Jersey Boys and The Lion King.

This is a crazy cactus garden outside of Jean-George steak house in the newly opened Aria hotel. It doesnt make any sense since its situated right in the middle of a floor and its great.

We ate at a really great Tapas place called Julian Serrano. I wanted to steal this chair, which unfortunately was physically impossible, since it seems I have no strength whatsoever.

This is my favorite place in all of Vegas: this restaurant at Caesar's Palace. I forgot the name of it but it had all these goldfish in fishtanks. It was incredible! Ive never seen anything like it.

Like a Lady

As always, Im confused about my style. Ive been gravitating towards the edgier, more street-look lately (black tank tops, sweatpants, studded bag, etc.) and yet that doesn't feel quite right. I realize now, fully, that I will always go back to being feminine in the end. Im thinking about frills, lace, florals, sweet prints, chiffons, bows, accentuated-waists and then everything else in between. But then of course I love mixing the whole man look, (trousers, plaids, oversized button ups, blazers etc.), in with the feminine. Thats why this W editorial is so beautiful and Im posting it here. Its just perfect. The red lips and tousled hair are to die for, as well as completely easy to do for fall. Who's ready for cold months ahead? I'm a little bit over summer dresses.

P.s. Anyone read Mockingjay? I cried like a baby.

Ive been changing the way I dress to make it more comfort oriented. Ive been fascinated with the idea of "luxurious" sweatpants for a long time now. In the end its all about being able to move in what you're wearing. I think sometimes people forget that... especially bloggers. There's all this pressure in the blog world to have the newest, greatest, latest thing/outfit/photos, although I bet many would refuse to admit it. At this point, I'm just going to wear what I want to wear; what feels right, and natural, and most of all, comfortable.

Quick Post: Dress Up

Came back from a photo shoot today and decided that I should play dress up and put on this crazy 70s dress that I bought at a flea market a couple weeks ago. It has these beautiful flutter sleeves and I played up the 70s factor with the platform clogs.

I like that the 70s are seeping back into designers collections now. I am in love with the label Chloe because of it; Hannah MacGibbon is pure genius.

Ive been going through a sort of, what you could call, enlightening period and its changing my view on clothes and fashion and everything else. Ill talk about it in my next post...
