Denim and More Denim

I think I've probably said this a thousand times, but I love denim. If I were to go into fashion I would either want to work at one of the Vogues or work for a denim company. I had the chance to get a glimpse of the world when I interned for Chip & Pepper in 8th grade, and although that feels like eons ago, I still count those weeks as some of the most valuable in my life. It gave me an appreciation for business, creativity and passion. There's nothing like seeing the inner cogs work in one your favorite companies. While I value certain brands like Mother, Siwy, Hudson, Genetic, Paige, (and more affordable ones like Madewell and American Apparel), I've come to the decision that my all time favorite denim brand is Current/Elliott (yes, they even beat out JBrand.) This decision was further confirmed when I happened to stumble upon their Spring 2012 lookbook. It's dreamy. I literally didn't dislike one look in here. Who ever styled/photographed/made-up these girls are the true geniuses of fashion. Everything seems effortless, which is exactly how ensembles should seem. Take a look.

Hey, Current/Elliott! I have three weeks free this winter, can I intern for you?

Stone, Slate and Stripes

A couple things to know about me:
- I love man pants. Always will.
- I love linen. Always will.
-I just learned to love the color grey. (Possibly) always will.

Last night I also got a little star struck when I went to dinner at AOC and not two tables away from me sat Anna Faris, Chris Pratt, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, on a double date- or what turned out to be a mini-baby shower for the Faris/Pratt duo. Normally, I can handle being in the same room as other actors, but this time I couldn't help myself. It felt so weird to see these four mega-super-stars all sitting, having dinner, quietly. I guess I just secretly always thought that if you got that much star power in one room together they would all explode or something. Anyways, they ate politely, and I watched avidly as they each got up (at one time or another) to go to the bathroom (stars go to the bathroom? WHAT?), and John/Emily leaned into each other and Chris cracked jokes and Anna laughed at them and whatnot. I don't think I've been more jealous of a person than I was in that moment (or hour and a half) than I was of Emily Blunt for a) not only being Emily Blunt but b) for having the amazing body she has and c) for being married to John Krasinski. Really, if anyone is living the life, it's her. She's my new inspiration for... everything. Also, she looked super beautiful and polished in a black peplum top, super straight dark denim and grey sky-high wedges. All in all, good night, (plus the food was amazing.)

Lately

Some of the photos I've uploaded to instagram the past couple of weeks.
Sorry about the absence! I've been driving around too much for my own good.

Bought this leather jacket at Wasteland, and it is seriously the most perfect thing.
This was taken at the famous LACMA light display before I left for Oregon.

Went to a party at the Four Seasons and seriously went crazy over all the beauty.
The food was also phenomenal, and Mary J. Blige gave a private concert. It was surreal.

While I was in Oregon, I also visited Mount Hood.
It still snows up there even in the summer!

My friends Anna and David came up to visit me and we literally spent three days in a handful of Oregon's waterways.
Creeks, lakes, rivers, snow. You name it, we did it.

THESE. Oh my gosh. I'll be wearing these Docs all senior year.
I need to buy American Apparel's Easy Jean in the darker Indigo
and then wear them with these boots and the motorcycle jacket from above.

Had a birthday party for my mother in Calabasas and this what the table looked like.
The gold silverware is my favorite.

Went to an advanced screening of Ruby Sparks at the Hammer Museum last night with my friend Lola.
There was a Q&A afterwards with the directors and cast and it was revealing to say the least.
Paul Dano is amazing, and Chris Messina is so incredibly talented/funny.

This men's watch just arrived from Bloggers Wardrobe as well.
I can't decide if I want to wear it myself or give it to a guy friend of mine.

Swim Time

I guess I could elaborate on my daydreaming from the post before and say that the swimsuit and coverup I would also take to the islands of Hawaii would be these pieces from American Apparel. I'm not especially a "beach" or "pool" person, but this red chiffon dress and black grid suit are seriously making me re-think this fact.

These shots were taking at my friends house in Calabasas that I have mentioned before. How amazing is the pool? Oh gosh I'm glad it's summer. So, so glad.

Hawaii, Anyone?

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have looked twice at it in a store, but when this dressed arrived in the mail as a gift from Free People I was shocked to find that it was, in fact, a natural born wonder. The weight makes the material feel durable and long lasting, the zipper down the back allows for easy removal, and the shape has got to be the most flattering I have put on in a long time. The dress also seems to be wrinkle-free no matter how much you fold it, which has made me dub it the perfect "Travel" dress, because you can literally zip it off, shove it in a bag, pull it out hours later and it'd still be perfect. It's the type of garment I can envision walking down the beaches of Tahiti in; half a dozen men in cream linen jackets at my arm and the dark night sky above us. Or maybe stuffing it in a carry-on bag on a flight from New York City to Miami, getting off the plane, changing into it in the airport bathroom and walking out looking fresh and ready. Or, after a day of scuba-diving in Hawaii, zipping it on for a nice dinner by the beach, complete with flickering lanterns and fresh fruit. Then, after dinner, zipping it off again to reveal a bathing suit underneath and diving back into the ocean.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Because I don't think the beauty of this thing can really be shown in still photos, I dedicated a little less-than-two-minute video to it's awesomeness. For those of you readers in Japan, Montenegro or Serbia, view the video here.

Really, I don't think it gets better than this.

Fireworks

Celebrating in a lowkey way with a small number of family and friends in Oregon. Just as it should be! A couple of friends from LA are coming up in a few days and I couldn't be more excited. Just been soaking up the summer feelings, writing, reading, thinking about college applications and generally having a miraculously lovely time.

Happy 4th of July!

P.s. My car arrived today in LA, which means I'll have a vehicle waiting for me when I get back.
I've named her Freedom and I am dying to get in and go.
