Airport Outfit

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I know the subject of airplane dressing is always big. What do you wear when youre crammed into a tiny area with people all around you for 5+ hours? I believe in the idea of dressing up for the plane, or at least in the idea of leaving your sweatpants at home. Flying used to be a bigger deal, it used to be a luxury, exciting. Now I feel like many take it for granted. Id like to take it back to that time when all the stewardesses were young and super excited to work on a plane, with their hats and matching outfits, and the travelers were equally as excited, so much so that they dressed up. Not when the flight attendants are rude to you if you ask them to throw away your coffee cup, and the passengers prefer ratty tshirts to button ups. Thats just me though...

Here is what I wore!
H&M black jacket, JBrand jeans, vintage boots, California Select cropped sweater, Marc by Marc Jacobs studded leather and tote bags.

You're creative, I like the jacket. I still find it ironic that you're heading to New York while I'm going to Cali tomorrow.

i totally agree with the whole flying thing-i love seeing photos of celebrities who get all dressed up to go on an airplane. your outfit is perfect for this-chic and comfortable. love that plaid cropped top and your hair looks great like this. what kind of camera do you use? you always have such good quality photos

actually it's really not a flight attendant's job to clean up after you. they are trained in safety precautions and during emergencies are supposed to be experts. we've just become so spoiled in assuming they are waiters, we expect no less.

Wait, why couldn't you throw your Starbies cup away yourself?

Well said! I find it so obscure that people actually trot on planes wearing UGG boots and sweatpants...it just makes me wonder why!?

I wish I could dress up for flights, but the past 5 times I've flown they've been at least 24 hours travel time. Living in Australia and being far away from everything means it's crazy to wear anything except sweatpants and baggy tshirts. Just have to make sure they're the nicest tshirts in existence then!

It is always refreshing to see stylish people on board flights. That plaid sweater is truly darling, and I'm especially enamored with the studded detail on the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag.

oh man, that's definitely not a flight attendants job. You should be responsible for what you brought onto the plane.

I like this a lot, the top is lovely. Your messy bun is adorable too! Every time you post I start wondering if I should get bangs...

I definitely agree with you on dressing up for flights though! I just flew up to Chicago earlier this week and I felt like the only one dressed up - even though I was only doing dress shorts and a button up. I feel the same way about school too - I don't think you should wear sweatpants to class.

Ahh! That's such a cute outfit to travel in! Me, I prefer comfort so I always go for leggings and a tunic or a smooshy sweater...something to that effect! I fly a lot so I can't do it in jeans... Jeggings, perhaps?!

Oh you look so stylish... I always try to look nice for plane rides, mostly because I always imagine I'll be sat next to someone painfully handsome and don't want to risk looking like a slob if I am haha (-:

Anonymous said...

on the contrary. while a flight attendant is trained for passenger safety. they are absolutely responsible for caring for you in flight. they dont want you in the aisle or in the galley. pick up after yourself and they will pick up after you...and the good ones are happy to do so. and if you are kind and smiling, all the better to us trained waitress's in the sky....
you look great. everyone should take care of their appearance when traveling... how do you think the odd lucky person gets bumped up to first class? they are polite and dressed well... at least in the old days...whew!

I like wedges. I like Jeffrey Campbell. My wedges are getting a lot of wear. New wedges needed? Jeffrey Campbell wedges needed? I think so!
Thanks for enlightening me!

(As Bríd's bank account I would like to interrupt and point out that buying more shoes is the last thing she needs to be doing. tut tut.)

I hate to be a downer but people didn't used to dress up for flights... they simply were all dressed more formally. If your thinking back to say, the 50's, women were expected to clean and cook and take care of the home in dresses with makeup on and such. Now people dress less formally for everything and it carries on to planes as well.
