Overdressed

Im always paranoid that I will be overdressed to an event. Turns out, when I wore this last saturday to a brunch...

I was.

However, upon entering Chanel to pick up those spring 2010 tattoos for some fun, I felt underdressed. Funny how things work out that way. Funny... and sad.

Zara cape, American Apparel cranberry tights, Dolce Vita heels, American Apparel striped tee.

I don't think you are overdressed at all! I feel the same way as you though. I get dressed up to go out for lunch and even when I think I am not that dressed up...I am when compared to other people. I say, keep doing what you are doing and don't worry about what anyone thinks! I love your cape and the cranberry tights are a cool color. xo

And as I always say, better overdressed than underdressed!

People ask me "why are you so dressed up?" alll the time. Forget about underdressed and overdressed. And generally, when people think you're overdressed, what they really feel is underdressed and shown up. :) You just do your thang, gal.

Obviously, the cape is a winner. And the whole overdressing thing is completely underrated. It is such a better feeling to be overdressed than underdressed. I would not even worry about it.

what you're talking about reminds me of how the nordstrom employees treat me with more attention and respect when i walk in wearing my marc jacobs bag and true religions, versus in a vintage dress and crossbody bag. haha. very sad. but true.

I have so many occasions where I feel overdressed, that I just convince myself that everyone else is just under dressed all the time.haha

Your cape looks so warm and comfy! I think your outfit is the perfect blend of casual and fancy. The stripes help to tone down the formalism and the cape adds that extra flair!

there's a line about it which you should kept in mind when you're going somewhere and you're scared of being overdressed. it says: 'you can never be overdressed, all the other people are underdressed' and it's from Oscar Wilde

the material of that cape is awful. it looks so stiff and itchy. the colour of the tights are horrendous too. the boots look extremely cheap, sister. this entire outfit is everywhere and looks juvenile. maybe next time try some black tights with some nicer looking shoes.

Partricia Loins said...

Dear Charlotte Gainsbourg (I mean Stylish Wanderer, you two look so identical! It's uncanny!), I just wanted to say how absolutely, undeniably brave and wonderful you have been at raising awareness and fighting for children born with cleft pallets in Malaysia. Its great to see such an exemplary stylish wonderment as yourself fighting for ridiculously ugly children.
I also am empowered by the emu's rights movement you've started in Cincannati, for the Emus are finally getting the equality they deserve. And i mean Emu, not emo. Those depressed liverheads could choke on a piece of undercooked tofu and die. In closing, I would like to end with a code that only you could understand:
MOIST TOWLETTES EXPONENTIALLY MOISTEN THE POPULATION OF LIECHTENSTEIN.
I knew you'd understand.
Sincerely,
Partricia Loins
ps. Lets make that trip to Indiana we always spoke of when you were just a we sprite.

Oh dear,
no no no! You were not overdressed at all! I'd wear that too if I was going out to lunch with some friends.
My friends always love my outfits even if I seem more dressed up than them when we go out.
& for me whenever I see someone so dressed up, I always feel that I should've dressed up more too.
So you probably got envious looks from many, :)
