Im Shredded, Actually The DIY Is. Rather, Im Shredding

Happy, Halloween! You guys all know about this DIY. Childhood flames did it, Something Picasso, Tangg in the City, you name someone, the bloggers have done it. Except for maybe...cough cough.. The Clothes Horse. Instead she does an awesome shirt/zipper diy that Im wanting to do as well. I think I might have caught the DIY bug or something (Im actually sick right now, but thats beside the point), I just want to do EVERYTHING! Which I think is a good thing for my mom, cause I think she's sick of buying me stuff. Ok, done rambling. Promise. Anyway, so yes, I finally did the shredded, DIY, $500 wanna-be, Raquel Allegra inspired plain white tee. And Im here to share with you what I did. So, in other words, TUTORIAL TIME!
BTW, Im coining this DIY as the Raquel Shred Shirt. Wanna know why? Cause Im sick of calling it DIY 500 dollar wannabe, childhood flames did it, etc.

What youll need:
-seam ripper
-plain white tee
-scissors (or, if your like Wolverine you can use your nails)
-soooo much time (think about it. twice)
Photobucket
Lets get started:
Take your scissors and cut off the hem of the shirt, the slightly thicker strip along the bottom of your tee. Youll have a long band, or a cut up band, when youve cut it all off.
(see second picture below)
You can use the band for a very stylish bracelet, or throw it out in the trash with the vintage duds you bought at goodwill and realized were incredibly tacky.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Next:
Stretch the shirt a bit (this will help in getting the thread loose.) Take the seam ripper and locate the bottom of the tee. Start pulling at the threads that are horizantal. If you break a few, that is okay. I probably have broken 1349287342 threads in my tshirt. But I say that adds character, so youre okay. Youll find that the threads are all connected, and the more your pull (without breaking), the longer your thread is running horizantally, the bigger your shredded section will be.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Next:
When youve got the length of thread to be the size youd like, take the thread right beneath it (still woven into the tshirt), and do the same thing. Pull the thread to be as long as the thread above it. Repeat. Keep going up until the section is as tall as you want it to be.
Recomendation: I seriously think that you should stretch the shirt often. It makes the threads easier to get out without breaking. Seriously. Itll make your DIY just. that. easier.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Next:
Repeat until you have the desired amount of sections and tallness. Youre done!
Now tell me, that wasn't so hard, right? (Basic sarcasm embedded into last sentence. It took me 3o minutes to get the first section started. Yes. I mean to get the first thread not to break in order to start the column upwards.)Photobucket
I still havent finished mine, oh well. Ill post pictures asap, though I think you already knew that.

Say Hello To My Little Friends

Photobucket
They're books. And earrings. At. The. Same. Time. I made them. Look.
(little earrings set on top of the Paris Hilton Nylon issue, photographed, and edited, by me)

Youve Got To Be Freakin Kidding Me

So this is just the kind of thing that my mom thinks is frivolous and silly. Lusting over a pair of heels that would probably kill your feet. But no matter. I want these. I want them a lot.
I dream of wearing these to Paris Fashion week and climbing up steep steps like Dani Stahl did in her YSLs. Can I dream?

Just Because Im Hurting, Doesn't Mean Im Lost

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I dont really have much to say, though I say that every post it seems. Still working on DIY, patience is a virtue, FYI.

I was sick today, but had to put this on for violin practice. Did any of you like the appearance of my cat in the last post? Isn't she adorable? Oh, and who do you think is going to be the next president of the US of A? Im small-talking, but its 10 pm and Im tired. And sick. Not a good combination.

Recommended movies: Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Bedazzled.

On That Midnight Train To Georgia

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Ive been incredibly lame, lately, with posting. My apologies.
On saturday I had this major Volleyball work out thing that I absolutely hated, and didnt go back Sunday (it was a two-day work out/camp) because it was so awful. Oh, and because I was completely and utterly sore from the day before. Haha. Note to self, do not do the equivalent of one school day (8 hours) of intense physical work if running for about ten seconds makes you tired.

I want to thank all of you for being so awesome and sharing what your thoughts on blogging is about. You guys all really made sense, and if you were a bible seller, telling me why to convert to christianity, Id probably sign up right away, cause you guys are so convincing.

These pictures were taken in the wee hours of the morning, during which you were probably slumbering peacefully, dreaming of Gucci. Im just saying. My mom told me a story how her sister bought the same blazer as the one I have on, and she wore it everywhere. It was that. versatile. So her sister bought the one Im wearing right now, for my mom, and here we have it. The world goes 'round.

Stay tuned for DIY!

Woot Woot! All The Babies in the House say AYER!

YAHOO! Amy Poehler's baby was born. She was looking so large lately, I was wondering whenit was going to happen. She named the baby, who came out at 8 pounds 1 ounce, Archie. Awww. Too bad she wasnt at Saturday Night Live last night. It wasnt as funny without her. But, Coldplay was there, so all is okay!

Anyway, a few pictures Ive taken in the last few weeks. ARENT THOSE AWESOME BOOTS?!?! I want a pair! Unfortunately they are like size 15 for women so Ill refrain from jumping into them and running out the door like I want to.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
P.s. Stay tuned for an awesome DIY!

When We Come Back, Everyone's Going to Be Naked

Photobucket
So some of you might have noticed that I have a un-natural ammount of Chip and Pepper denim. That is simlpy because, I LOVE THEM! With all my heart I say I love them.
Ive been incredibly depressed lately seeing that (or actually not seeing) them in magazines, or in any blogs. The denim quality is amazing, and I love the colors and fit. This christmas, please please I hope to god, every single one of you receive a pair, (because they are a bit pricey.)

Btw, did I just stick my foot in my mouth and everyone loves them already? If not, what denim do you like?

Wombat, I Get The Head, You Get the Rest

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
So today was pretty un-eventful.. like yesterday. Except, Tavi and I are in a disagreement about what blogging is for and who you blog for.

So riddle me this: Who do you blog for? You? Readers? Your pet chicken? Think about it. Twice.
I mainly blog for myself, to get all my ideas out there, and then for people to read them and to agree or disagree, the same goes for my outfits. I dont live in a very stylish city, so most of my outfits are lost on my town folks, thats why I post them for many people to see. Also Im incredibly inspired by you bloggers, and what you wear, so Im also here for the community. Truth is, im entirely shallow (from Tavi's perspective I guess), and actually, if nobody read my blog or commented I probably wouldnt be here writing these words right now. But good thing you do. I just want you to know, I love all of you for it.

Lovely Sussanah-Cole (who is probably the nicest person out there, like, evah) wrote a post about this recently. Check it out.

My converse Im wearing are these new super sleek versions of the regular old converse. I especially love the geekchic feel of them. I got them in this cream color, and a black one.

For those of you wondering. I use a Casio Exilim camera for my photos.

Enchanted

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Today's outfit post is actually posted on the day I wore the outfit! Today I dont really have much to say.... except...I dont know. You readers are awesome. I kinda expected some hate comments about the shoes I dissed before this post, but you actually all greed with me! Hehe. Blogger in common-ness. Fun.

Oh! I went to the doctor today, cause Ive had a sore throat for a week now! I might have had strep throat but I dont! I think style bloggers are blessed by God, thats why we dont get sick...or maybe not.

You know, Im not really making sense today. Just ignore me and praise or hate my outfit.

No, Buddy, Youre Not a Cotton-Headed Ninny-Muggins, Youre Just Special

PhotobucketPhotobucket
I went to the Goodwill on Sunday and found this delicious candy-coated brightly colored clown type sweater, and I really think that the gods made it for me, and only me.
Except, that it was $40 dollars, and I knew my mom wasnt going to dish out that kinda money for a sweater that was going to be worn only a few times.
We go to the counter, where my mom has a buddy, and he tells us that it was on sale last week for half off, and we missed it. So he calls the manager forward, and the stupid lady gave us 10 dollars off! EVEN THOUGH IT WOULDVE NEVER BEEN BOUGHT AND IT PROBABLY WAS GOING TO BE SHIPPED OFF TO VIETNAM IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS! She was lucky that a style blogger walked through that very door, cause NO ONE would have seen it for what it really was, except me, (and maybe you, too....maybe.)

Okay. Rant-type yelling-shenanigans over. Cheer me up by telling me what movie this post's title came from.

Anyway. I imagine wearing it during the holidays around with all the chrismas trees, and cozy nights, especially around my cousin, cause she just suddenly realized her appreciation for all things vintage, and I know she's just going to love it. Maybe Ill let her wear it too. So long story short, its incredibly comfy, bright, heavy (I mean look at all those beads!) and perfect for the Stylish Wanderer.

Note, pictures not edited (except for the one below the one below), because, its really, that, bright. its really form flattering and looks amazing on, (especially when youre not posing for pictures and trying to cover your face at the same time. Im just saying. Putting your hand up to your head kinda gets rid of the whole picture, if you understand. But, internet safety and all.)

No. I did not wear this to school today though. I took the pictures last sunday. Thats all.

Cut It!

Photobucket
Photobucket
So by now, when youre reading this, Ive cut my hair. About 6 inches. Its kinda scary to me too. The pictures above and were taken before I cut my hair, so expect shorter hair next outfit post. Its weird not having long hair. I like the new feel of it all, but am I going to go this short again? No. I kinda miss my old hair, but I felt it was time to change so the shorter hair is good, and its easier to take care of.

The pants were too big for me, but I took a leather strip and pulled it tight and I got a nice gather at the top of the pants, with a leather belt to top it off.

Lovely Isabel from Hipster Musings gave me the I Love Your Blog Award! Youre too sweet Isabel. Thank you so much!

Friends, We've All Got Them

Photobucket

So! My friend (She Who Will Not Be Named For Safety Reasons) came over. We started off in semi-normal clothing (if you call leopard tights and blue man Gap pants normal (me), a white aapencil skirt and several layerings of shirts (her), also both the pants and skirt are seen in the third picture), but then, she got a hold of one of my moms shawls in the back of my car and what followed was an afternoon of running around in shawl skirts with nothing but tights and shirts on, and dont think that there wasnt anybody around either. There was a couple with a dog that walked by about 5 times, and several cars. But we just ran around louder than ever when people walked past. Cause we're cool like dat.
(For those who dont know, Im in the pink, bestest buddy is in the stripes)

the only thing to really note here is that my tights are roberto cavalli for h&m.

pictures taken by both of us, and the self-timer (you gotta love him), edited by me.

You all have a LOVELY weekend!

EDIT:
so I was going through this blog that a reader said was the blogger from the picture I mentioned below in my AA post that I said was a really cool shot, (DID THAT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL? I dont think so).
Anyway, she has my tights! Though I think I rock them better. But whatevs.
